Laura has been coaching and mentoring individuals since 1990. She has extensive experience in executive and professional coaching, leadership development, change management, human and organizational communication, and building high-performance teams. Her organizational clients include Fortune 1000 companies, state and federal governmental agencies and non-profit organizations. Her individual clients include CEOs, professionals, entrepreneurs, and others interested in making positive and bold changes in their lives.
Dr. Belsten’s experience includes almost a decade in higher education administration. As director of a masters degree program at the University of Denver for seven years, Laura worked with over 600 students and hired and mentored over 98 adjunct faculty. As a management consultant in the Colorado Governor's office in the late 1980s, she worked with teams throughout state government on quality initiatives and customer service. As City Manager in the mid-1980s, she worked with teams of elected officials, building cross-functional teams to address challenging environmental problems, and worked closely with the public to address their concerns and needs.
Dr. Belsten is a trained mediator; skilled at negotiation, mediation and conflict resolution. She holds a doctorate in Human Communication, specializing in organizational communication, leadership, team building, group process, conflict assessment and management, and collaborative decision-making. She teaches courses in leadership, communication, negotiation, mediation and conflict resolution at the University of Denver; has also taught in the MBA program at the University of Colorado at Denver She is a member of Coach University, Corporate Coach University, the Coaches Training Institute, and the International Coach Federation. She is the president of the Denver Coach Federation.
